Regaining the Crown

But this is not the first time that Rolls-Royce has reached the top of the list of the most expensive cars in the world.

In 2017, the exclusive Sweptail model was created to order for a wealthy European client.

It achieved the title of most expensive car at the time, with a price equivalent to US$ 8 million.

However, the Sweptail was later surpassed by the Bugatti La Voiture Noir, which cost US$ 14 million.

But now, the Boat Tail conquers the throne, displacing the French hypercar and regaining its majesty.

Nautical Exclusivity

Production of the Boat Tail was limited to just three units, all aimed at customers passionate about nautical design.

So Rolls-Royce made an exclusive agreement with these wealthy people, committing to build a personalized unit for each of them.

But despite sharing the same bodywork, each example will be truly unique, thanks to the high level of personalization offered by Rolls-Royce.

A Four Year Journey

The creation of the Boat Tail involved four years of joint development between the manufacturer and its demanding customers.

Buyers were looking for something truly innovative and a reinterpretation of 1920s models, inspired by the shapes of the high-performance boats of the time.

Power Under the Hood

The convertible is equipped with a 6.75 twin-turbo V12, also used in the Cullinan, Phantom and Black Badge models.

While the Cullinan and Phantom offer 571 horsepower, the Black Badge models increase that number to an impressive 608 horsepower.

Classic with a Touch of Luxury

With its imposing 5.8 meters in length, the Boat Tail follows the brand’s philosophy called “Architecture of Luxury”.

But despite being an exclusive model, it still maintains classic Rolls-Royce features, including a raised front end, rectilinear front grille and headlights divided into two pairs.

The rear, lower, houses narrow taillights illuminated by LEDs.

But in the units presented, the wheels have a polished blue finish.

The Supreme Comfort

The true luxurious essence of the Boat Tail is revealed at the rear.

Just above the lanterns, two doors open like wings, revealing what Rolls-Royce calls the “hosting suite”.

These doors hide two small refrigerators and a compartment filled with sets of cutlery, glasses, towels and crockery from the Christofle brand, adorned with the Rolls-Royce logo and the model name, Boat Tail.

Sophistication Details

Additionally, the interior includes two carbon fiber seats, a pair of cocktail tables and a sunshade that elegantly unfolds from the rear of the car, ensuring maximum comfort for the occupants.

But the fabric roof does not have an electronic drive and must be adjusted manually.

However, there is a cover in the trunk to protect the occupants from possible storms.

Unparalleled Customization

Rolls-Royce offers exclusive touches tailored to each buyer.

Among them, two Swiss BOVET watches stand out on the dashboard, one for the owner and the other to give as a gift to anyone who wishes, as well as a case in the glove compartment with a Montblanc pen.

The two-tone blue leather seats, present in various parts of the cabin, and the wooden finish on the dashboard complete the sophistication scenario.

Conclusion

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is much more than a car.

It's a work of art on wheels, a sublime demonstration of luxury and personalization.

But with its production limited to three units, it became the most expensive car in the world, a true jewel of automobile engineering.

A tribute to the exclusivity and refinement that Rolls-Royce offers its most demanding customers.
